SCIAC Athletes of the Week

WHITTIER, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athletes of the Week were announced Monday and senior Anahy Covarrubias (Los Angeles, Calif.) was recognized as the Cross-Country Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career in the eighth week of voting.

Anahy guided the Poets to a 10th place mark in the field of 14 teams during the Titan Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton. The Los Angeles, Calif. native powered to a time of 18:52.21 in the field of 137 runners in the 5-kilometer race and was the first SCIAC and NCAA Division III harrier to cross the line.

Whittier is preparing this week for the SCIAC Championships, set to take place this Saturday, October 27 at Prado Regional Park in Chino Hills, Calif.
