Jack Goodwillie became the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at Whittier College on Sept. 1, 2021 after multiple stints at Caltech spanning nearly half a decade. He is responsible for all strategic communications for Whittier College’s 18 athletic programs, including directing all media, public relations and social networking efforts. In addition to managing the department's official website, he oversees all Poets video coverage with FloSports, licensing, marketing, and branding.
While at Caltech, Goodwillie handled a similar position, overseeing all things sports information, marketing, multimedia and social media, as well as public relations and gameday operations. He initially joined Caltech in November 2016 in the short-lived role of Sports Information Assistant prior to being promoted to Director of Sports Information and Marketing in advance of the following year. He went on to serve the Beavers in that role until Oct. 2020 before briefly returning to Caltech in July 2021.
Prior to making the move to California, the Philadelphia-native spent 16 months with The Philadelphia Inquirer where he worked as a staff writer, agate clerk, web content producer and the primary contact for high school sports in Southeastern Pennsylvania and South-Central New Jersey. He also spent a full calendar year with Germantown Academy, where sports information became a realized passion of his. As GA's Sports Information Assistant, Goodwillie played a key role in the promotion and marketing of the school's athletic teams while keeping steady records and maintaining a regular presence at home games and major events. Goodwillie was also a regular contributor to CityofBasketballLove.com throughout 2014 and 2015 and has covered home games for each of Philadelphia's "City Six" programs, as well as prospect camps and AAU tournaments.
Education
Jack graduated from Temple University in 2015 with a B.A. in Journalism to go with a minor in U.S. History. Originally from Reading, Pa., He is an avid supporter of Temple Athletics and the Washington Commanders NFL franchise. Jack currently resides in Long Beach.
