Jeff Fisher is in his first season at Whittier College, bringing collegiate, national, and international coaching experience to the Poets’ track & field program. Fisher has developed athletes at the high school, collegiate, and post-collegiate levels, coaching state champions, All-Americans, school-record holders, and international competitors.
Fisher joins Whittier following a successful season at Chapman University, where he helped guide the Panthers to a second-place finish at the 2026 SCIAC Championships. During his time at Chapman, Fisher assisted with 22 All-SCIAC performances, two SCIAC champions, and four All-SCIAC relay teams. He also helped coach the men’s 4x400-meter relay team to Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Championships, while multiple school records were broken.
Prior to Chapman, Fisher built an extensive résumé developing athletes at the high school level. His athletes have earned nine High School All-American honors, 13 All-State honors, including 10 state medals, two individual California State Championships, 42 All-CIF Southern Section honors, and nine CIF Southern Section championships. He also coached an All-State 4x100m relay team, while more than 60 athletes he has trained have gone on to compete at the collegiate level.
Fisher’s coaching experience extends to the international stage. In 2024, he coached Paralympian Blake Leeper to a place on the U.S. Paralympic Team and was selected to the Team USA coaching staff for the 2024 Paralympic Games. In 2023, Fisher coached Leeper to an American record in the 400 meters. He has also worked with multiple Olympians and world-class athletes throughout his career and recently coached Tristan Amell to a fourth-place finish in the 1500 meters at the Italian National Championships.
Before beginning his coaching career, Fisher competed at Louisiana State University, where he was part of a national championship-winning team and became a school record holder. Following his collegiate career, he competed as a post-collegiate athlete for three years, racing at multiple USA Championships and training with elite groups in Eugene, Oregon, and the Santa Monica Track Club in California. During his competitive career, Fisher also earned a World Masters Athletics silver medal in the 400 meters representing Team USA in Tampere, Finland.
Fisher’s experience in elite training environments has included serving as a training partner and pacemaker for Olympic champions and world-class athletes, including Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Allyson Felix, and Alysia Montaño. He has also served as a professor and coach within the Kinesiology and Athletics departments at Santa Monica College.
A graduate of LSU, Fisher earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Sports Management. During his time at LSU, he was a multiple time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and received the LSU Athletics Director’s Cup Award for Academic Excellence. Fisher also holds USTFCCCA Event Specialist certifications in Sprints, Hurdles, Relays, and Endurance.
