Women's Basketball Cruises Past Pomona, Allen '07 Finishes with 18 Points, 10 Boards

Dana Allen '07 recorded a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds to lead Whittier College to a 63-47 victory over Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Graham Athletics Center on February 15.  The Poets are now 11-11 overall and 4-7 in conference play.

Allen shot 8-for-14 from the field and collected three steals in 34 minutes of action.  Rosario Rios-Aguilar '08 and Desiree Flores '08 each added eleven points.  Michelle Mascoto '07 was held scoreless for the first time this season, but contributed with six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

The game started as a back-and-forth battle leading to a 16-16 tie with 7:46 left in the first half.  The Poets went on a 10-0 run in the next three minutes on their way to a twelve point lead at halftime.  Whittier only turned the ball over four times and forced fifteen Sagehen turnovers in the first half.  The Poets built their lead to as much as 17 points several times in the second half, eventually winning 63-47.
