Game 2 (L, 11-6)
In the second game of the Invite the Poets took on Concordia (Calif.) at Cal Baptist and found themselves down 2-0 after one quarter of play. Opening up the second, Alyssa Rangel put the Poets on the scoreboard to cut the deficit to one and then answered with her second goal of the game to even the game at two a minute later.
But Concordia answered with a 3-0 run to close out the frame to enter the half up 5-2. Out of intermission the Purple & Gold again answered first with a goal 18 seconds in from Rangel but once again Concordia used five unanswered to extend their lead to 11-5 after three quarters of play. In the final quarter the Poets made a strong surge outscoring Concordia 3-0 getting goals from Hayley Parker, Emma Sakuda, and Jae Crabtree but it wouldn't be enough to upset the Eagles who went on to win 11-6.
Whittier returns to the pool today as they host three Div. I schools in Macalester (10:00am), Colorado State (12:00pm), and Washington & Jefferson (6:00pm).
