CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College women's basketball team stumbled on the road Saturday evening as they dropped a 70-43 decision to Claremont-M-S running their losing skid to five games.
After falling behind early 21-6, the Whittier offensive unit came alive pulling within 11 at the half 36-25 thanks to a 7-2 run to close out the frame with four of them coming from freshman Ashley Lindke (Pleasanton, Calif.).
CMS broke the game wide open in the second half extending their lead to 29. They held the Poets to a mere 21.6% shooting on the evening and forced 23 turnovers, which turned into 25 points.
Senior forward Danielle Hays (San Diego, Calif.) was the lone Poet in double figures with 12 points with five rebounds. She was joined by Danielle Quinones (Marin County, Calif.) and Kaylah Alexander (Altoona, PA) who chipped in with seven and six points, each respectively.
Kris Brackman for CMS finished with a game high 16 points off the bench with seven rebounds, while Kimberly Scamman tossed in 12.
Whittier returns to the floor this coming Thursday, February 6 when they travel to Claremont, Calif. to take on Pomona-Pitzer beginning at 7:30pm.
