WHITTIER, Calif. – Women's water polo remains unbeaten in conference play after they cruised to a 13-4 victory over La Verne Wednesday evening improving to 16-12, 2-0 SCIAC.
It was all Whittier from start to finish who jumped out to a 4-1 first quarter lead with goals from Jenel Rivera, Jasmine Villalpando, Laurel Pinkley, and Isabella Gorrocino. Rivera added her second goal to start off the second quarter before the Leos added a goal from Jefferies. But the Poets would add two more to end the half from Gorrocino and Arlin De La Mora to take a 7-3 lead.
In the third, Pinkley put the Poets up by four and De La Mora would add her second to move the score to 9-3 before La Verne would add a last second tally to cut the deficit to five. In the final frame, the Poets held ULV scoreless, while adding another four goals from Rivera, De La Mora, Villalpando, and Jae Crabtree that secured the lopsided victory.
Whittier takes on Division I Brown University this afternoon, March 27 at 4:00pm in their last non-conference match-up before hosting Redlands this Saturday, March 29 at 11:00am.
