WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College women's water polo team returned to the Lillian Slade Aquatic Center Saturday morning and cruised to the 13-7 victory over Cal Lutheran University.
The Poets move to 15-13 overall and 3-1 SCIAC play, while Cal Lutheran drops to 6-16, 2-3 SCIAC.
Whittier put Cal Lutheran in an early hole leading 10-2 at the half with five coming in each quarter led by Angelica Hernandez who picked up five of her game high six goals in the first sixteen minutes.
CLU would come out of the break outscoring Whittier 4-1 to pull within five but WC would find the back of the goal twice in the fourth from Hernandez and Zyania Morales (Commerce, Calif.) that put the game out of the reach for CLU.
Hernandez finished with six goals to lead the Poets. Morales had three, Cynthia Castillo (Los Angeles, Calif.) two, and Isabella Gorrocino (East Los Angeles, Calif.) and Arlin De La Mora (Commerce, Calif.) picked up one each.
In goal, Caitlin Bronzan (Brentwood, Calif.) picked up two saves.
