CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Basketball team earned a big win Saturday evening as they pulled off the 73-49 victory over Pomona-Pitzer that keeps them in the hunt for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Post Season Berth.

Whittier snaps their two game losing skid and improves to 7-15, 6-7 SCIAC and are now tied with the same amount of wins they had in 2015-16.

The Purple & Gold have now swept the Sagehens on the season and are firing on all cylinders as they had four players record double digit scoring efforts.

The Poets jumped out to a 17-10 lead after the first quarter of play but opened the game up in the second outscoring PP 21-7, while shooting 47% from the floor with Cali Cubel (Oceanside, Calif.) adding seven of her game high 21 points in the period.

This gave Whittier a 38-17 lead at the break and they didn't look back.  Despite being outscored 20-18 in the third, the Poets came back strong in the fourth to add 17 en route to the lopsided victory.

Along with Cubel's 21 points she also added four rebounds and three assists.  Ana Youngblood (Berkeley, Calif.) was a rebound shy of a double double with 12 points and nine boards, while Emilee Dy (Chino Hills, Calif.) came off the bench to add 12 points with six rebounds.

Carly Buechler (Greenwood Village, CO) was the last Poet in double figures with 11 and picke dup five steals.  Emily Underwood (Nicholasville, KY) got the start at the point and added eight points with four assists and a steal.
