REDLANDS, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Tennis team was shutout by the No. 27 ranked Bulldogs of the University of Redlands Saturday falling 9-0.
The Purple & Gold picked up just one game across all three doubles match-ups, which came at No. 2 from Kallysta Lopez (Whittier, Calif.) and Avery Turner (Austin, TX). In singles, Whittier attempted a comeback but couldn't gain any footing. Amanda Rodriguez (Glendora, Calif.) had the best battle at No. 2 falling 7-5, 6-2 against Karen Kobayashi. Lopez, despite her consistent play all season wasn't able to top Halle Martinucci at No. 4 falling 6-2, 6-1.
Kindall Yeung (Brea, Calif.) played at the top spot and she too fought in the opening set only to fall 6-4, 6-1.
Madeline Schmidt-Perez (San Marino, Calif.) was the other singles who totaled three games at No. 5 falling 6-1, 6-2 against Kate Dolan.
Whittier wraps up their regular season schedule this Saturday, April 20 when they host Caltech beginning at 10:00am.
