CLAREMONT, Calif. – For the third straight match the Whittier College Women's Tennis team has failed to pick up a point as they dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 2 Claremont-M-S.
The Purple & Gold have had a tough start to their 2020 season having to face off against Biola, No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer and now No. 2 Claremont-M-S.
In doubles the Poets managed to pick up just one game, which came at No. 2 from the team of Avery Turner (Austrin, TX) and Jasmine Saunders (Fulham, London). But WC would go on to fall behind 3-0 entering singles action. The Poets would battle in singles but the depth of the Athenas would be too much for the Purple & Gold. Turner in the No. 2 slot would pick up two games in the second set and freshman Emily List (Brea, Calif.) would record three in the opening frame at No. 6.
Then at No. 3 and No. 5, Saunders and Snigdha Baruah (Guwahati, Assam) would each pick up a game.
