Howing is Second Team All-SCIAC After Brilliant Season

WHITTIER, Calif. (Feb. 24, 2023) - Senior guard Bryant Howing was named Second Team All-SCIAC, the SCIAC announced Friday morning.

"This honor means a lot to me," Howing said. "I am proud to represent my school, my coaches, and above all, my teammates."

Howing of Hacienda Heights was named All-SCIAC Second Team after finishing fourth in scoring average and tied for second in steals per game this season. He also finished fifth in free-throw percentage (84.4) and tied for seventh in assists per contest.

The 6'2" guard eclipsed 20 points in 10 of his 25 games this season, scoring at least 26 on five occasions. His career high in scoring came in a Nov. 26 home win this season against Willamette when he dropped 30 points in 29 efficient minutes. Against Redlands on Nov. 30, he dished a career-high eight assists.

Howing also drained six three-pointers in three games during the 2022-23 campaign. Impressively, he converted at least one three-pointer in 24 of his 25 games this season. On the defensive end, the nimble guard was active, capturing at least one steal in all but two contests this season. He grabbed a career-high seven steals in a close loss at CMS on Jan. 7.

The senior plans on playing professional basketball overseas and has a bright future ahead. Congratulations, Bryant!
