WHITTIER, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2025) – The Whittier College men's soccer team capped its regular season home slate with an intense 1-1 draw against Chapman University on Senior Night at Memorial Stadium. The result keeps the Poets firmly in the thick of the SCIAC playoff race heading into the final week of the season.
Sophomore defender Anthony Dolce (Salt Lake City, Utah / East) delivered the night's highlight in the 60th minute, dribbling past multiple defenders from just beyond midfield before firing a left-footed shot into the far corner for his second goal in three matches and fourth of his career.
Chapman found the equalizer in the 73rd minute, but the Poets' back line, anchored by Jake Marks (London, England / Immanuel College / D'Youville University / Columbia College), stood tall for the remainder of the match. Marks recorded four saves in goal, while Connor Gilmore (Los Angeles, Calif. / University High / Santa Monica College) and Ben Harrison (Salt Lake City, Utah / Olympus) helped Whittier's defense limit the Panthers to five shots on target over 90 minutes.
The draw pushes Whittier to 10-2-4 overall and 4-2-4 in SCIAC play, keeping postseason aspirations very much alive. With the SCIAC standings tightly packed, the Poets' final two matches of the regular season will prove decisive in determining their playoff fate.
Head Coach Shea Harwell and Whittier continue conference action on Wednesday, Oct. 29, traveling to Claremont to face Pomona-Pitzer at 4 p.m.
