WHITTIER, Calif. (Mar. 18, 2025) – Senior guard
Aamari Smith of the Whittier College men's basketball team has been recognized as a First Team All-Region player by D3Hoops.com for the 2024-25 season.
Players were nominated for all-region awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and schools and conferences were each contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. There were 789 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to a number of SIDs, as well as
D3hoops.com staff and contributors, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.
The news comes on the heels of Smith being annointed as Whittier's first-ever Jostens Trophy finalist, awarded to the most outstanding men's and women's Division III basketball players of the year.
Smith proved himself to be one of the nation's prolific offensive players at the small college level. He averaged 28.1 points per game, averaging nearly two points per game more than the next-highest per-game scorer. While Smith was not selected SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year by the SCIAC coaches for men's basketball, he was a First Team All-SCIAC selection and a current finalist for the Bevo Francis Small College Player of the Year (Top 25 Watchlist). No SCIAC player, male or female, has ever won the Jostens Trophy.
