LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Aug. 12, 2025) – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced a partnership with Officially Human, an organization whose mission is to "restore respect to game officials and recognize them as authorities on the fields and courts."

Officially Human was founded in 2019 to restore respect to, and positive treatment of, sport officials through increased education and communication to all stakeholders (administrators, coaches, and fans) while recruiting and retaining new officials at all levels.
 
"This partnership is another step the SCIAC is eager to take in our shared focus across Division III on sportsmanship and treatment of officials," Commissioner Jenn Dubow said. "The national officiating crisis worsening and the primary cause is abuse directed toward officials during competition. Officially Human is a leading resource and partner we sincerely appreciate for its commitment to helping improve this situation."
 
Initial plans will include the SCIAC linking to Officially Human resources on its website and social media as well as encouraging signage at events and running video content on livestreams. Other initiatives will be announced throughout the year and may involve additional conference partnerships.
 
"Officially Human is proud to partner with Commissioner Dubow and the SCIAC member institutions," founder Brenda Hilton said. "Sportsmanship and specifically treatment of officials are focal points for the conference and we look forward to raising awareness across Southern California together through shared initiatives."
