LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2025) – Sophomore center
Noah Bigara (Cape Town, South Africa / Pinnacle Schools) of the Whittier College men's water polo team has been named SCIAC Athlete of the Week for his 14-goal week against five different opponents.
Whittier went 3-2 with its only losses coming against Division I foes Pepperdine University and UC Santa Barbara. As for Bigara, the 2024 SCIAC Newcomer of the Year is one of the players to watch around the conference this year, and proved it by leading the Poets to victory against talented JUCO programs Cypress College, Mt. San Antonio College and Grossmont College. Five of the sophomore's goals came in a tight game against Mt. SAC where the Poets took a one-score game into the final quarter. It was there that Bigara showed his incredible closing ability, notching four of his five goals in the final period alone to push the Poets over the finish line.
Bigara and the Poets will next take on Fresno Pacific University at home on Friday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m.
