CLAREMONT, Calif. (Feb. 11, 2026) – The Whittier College women's basketball team showcased strong offensive efficiency Wednesday night, shooting nearly 47 percent from the field in a competitive 79–67 SCIAC road matchup against Pomona-Pitzer.
The game featured steady execution from Whittier's core scorers, as the Poets remained within striking distance through much of the contest. After a back-and-forth first half that saw multiple lead changes, Whittier continued to attack the paint and capitalize on high-percentage opportunities, finishing with 38 points inside.
Kennedy Perkins (Tehachapi, Calif. / Tehachapi) led the offensive effort with 18 points, knocking down all three of her three-point attempts to tie her career high in threes made in a game. The sophomore added six rebounds and five assists in an all-around performance.
Shushan Krikorian (McLean, Va. / McLean / Glendale College) and Xochitl Hood (Whittier, Calif. / Troy / Fullerton College) each contributed 14 points, combining for efficient shooting performances and steady scoring throughout the evening. Brooklyn Giles (Fairfield, Calif. / Early College / California State University, Los Angeles) added 11 points and seven rebounds, continuing to provide presence in the paint and on the glass.
As a team, Whittier kept turnovers to a minimum and generated second-chance opportunities, reflecting strong composure and offensive rhythm despite the road environment.
Whittier now stands at 10–12 overall and 5–9 in SCIAC play. Head Coach Kristen Dowling and the Poets will return home to Dave Jacobs Court on Saturday, February 14, hosting Caltech at 7 p.m. for Senior Night and a Valentine's Day conference matchup.
