The Whittier College women's soccer team was shut out 3-0 by La
Sierra University at the Donald E. Graham Soccer Field on September
6. The Poets were outshot 9-6 by an undefeated La Sierra
squad (2-0).
Lowhren Aceves '10 made three saves in her first
collegiate start in goal. La Sierra scored two goals in the
first half and one in the second.
The Golden Eagles started the scoring in the 20th minute with a
shot that sailed over Aceves' head and into the goal. They
added another less than three minutes later to take a 2-0 lead into
the break.
The second half was highly contested with both teams getting
chances early. The best chance for the Poets was on a penalty
kick ten minutes into the half that sailed over the crossbar.
La Sierra added their final goal off a corner kick with just one
second remaining.
