Women's Soccer Loses Battle with Occidental

For fifty-seven minutes, Whittier College women's soccer was in a scoreless battle with Occidental College at Donald E. Graham Soccer Field on October 3.  The West Region's #4 team eventually broke the scoreless tie and went on to beat the Poets 5-0 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match-up.

Whittier goalkeeper, Lowhren Aceves '10 kept the Tiger offense in check with five saves in the first half and fifteen saves in the game.  After the scoreless first half, Occidental broke through with a goal in the 58th minute from Corinne Winkler.  She scored again in the 62nd minute, and the Tigers never looked back.  They added goals in the 73rd, 76th and 82nd minutes to take the 5-0 lead.

Occidental took 30 shots while the Poets finished with two, both of which were on goal.  Two of the Tigers' goals came from their six corner kicks.
