Women's Soccer Loses Battle with La Sierra

Whittier College Women's Soccer traveled to La Sierra University on September 10.  Two second half goals propelled La Sierra to the 2-0 victory and dropped the Poets' record to 0-2 on the season.

Whittier goalkeeper Lea Betsworth '12 made three saves in the first half to maintain the scoreless tie.  She finished the game with ten saves. 

La Sierra stepped up their offense in the second half, peppering the Whittier goal with 15 shots in the half.  They out shot the Poets 24-1 in the game.  The Eagles broke the scoreless tie in the 52nd minute with a goal by Starlena Murray.  The second goal came seven minutes later on a Tabitha Bunch unassisted goal. 

The Poets are back at home to take on Chapman University on September 14.  The game is scheduled to kick-off at 5:00pm on Graham Soccer Field.
