Whittier College Women's Soccer began the SCIAC portion of their schedule on September 17.  The Poets lost 5-0 to Occidental College for their fourth loss of the season.

Poet goalie, Lea Betsworth '12 did all she could to keep the Tigers off the scoreboard.  She racked up 18 saves, eleven in the first half.  Occidental took 30 shots in the game.

Occidental broke through in the 21^st minute on the first of three goals on the day for Corinne Winkler.  Their second goal came in the 34^th minute to give them a 2-0 lead at halftime. 

Winkler notched her second goal in the 61^st minute.  They added another goal in the 66^th minute and Winkler completed the hat trick in the 79^th minute to complete the 5-0 victory.

The Poets continue SCIAC play on September 20 when they play host to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Graham Soccer Field.  Kick-off is scheduled for 11:00am.
