THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran outshot
the Whittier College women's soccer team 48-2 for the game and had
25 shots on goal as it handed the Poets its sixth straight Southern
California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference defeated, 9-0, on
Wednesday afternoon.
WC (2-11-2, 0-9-1 SCIAC) tallied a shot in each the first and
second half but had difficulty containing the Regals' attack. CLU
scored five first half goals which includes the first three in the
eighth, ninth and 10th minute, respectively.
Lea Betsworth started in goal and made nine
saves in the first half. Gina-Marie DiPierro
played the final 45 minutes and stopped seven shots.
The Whittier defense stood strong on all seven Cal Lutheran
corner kicks. The purple and gold did not allow a goal off the
corner.
CLU was whistled for six offsides while WC had one.
The Poets return to action on Saturday, October 24, as they hit
the road to face Claremont-M-S at 11 am.
