ORANGE, Calif. – On a hot Saturday morning in Orange, Calif., the Chapman University Panthers scored two goals in each the first and second halves as they blanked the Poets, 4-0, at Wilson Field.

The Panthers (5-3) scored the first goal of the game at 8:02 and added the second in the 14th minute to take a quick 2-0 lead.

Whittier (3-3-1) threatened in the 27th minute getting off two shots in a five second span. Hannah Cooley had her attempt blocked before it reached the keeper and Anna Edwards saw her attempt sail wide of the target. Edwards came back less than a minute later had her shot saved by Chapman keeper Chloe Canta.

Chapman added to its lead early in the second stanza with an unassisted scoring strike at 48:16 and added the last bit of insurance at 84:14.

The Poets were outshot 28-5 for the game and earned only one corner to CU's eight.

Megan Wessel stopped nine of the 13 shots on goal she faced while the duo of Canta and Rissa Andersen combined for two saves.

The Poets return to action on Wednesday, September 29, as they host Occidental at 7 pm. The game will be available through a live audio broadcast.
