ORANGE, Calif. – The Whittier College women's soccer team after scoring three goals against Cal Lutheran earlier in the week was unable to get their offense going on the road as they dropped the season series with Chapman University 4-0.
The Poets who felt they found a click in their offense was unable to find the back of the goal Saturday evening as they saw the Panthers add two goals in each half en route to their ninth victory of the season.
Val Sobol's penalty kick goal in the 16th minute gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead at the break, ten minutes after Haley Fedden put CU in front early with a goal in the sixth minute.
In the second half, Whittier was outshot 16-6 but held Chapman scoreless until the final seven minutes of regulation when they would tally back to back goals from Katie Bell and Baylor Hogan, Hogan's coming with 52 seconds left in the game.
Shanna Falch (Doylestown, PA) played all 90 minutes and collected seven saves in the loss, while Madison Shipherd (Whittier, Calif.) totaled five shots with three being on goal.
Whittier returns to the field next week on Wednesday, October 23 when they travel to Redlands to take on the Bulldogs beginning at 7:00pm.
