PASADENA, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2022) - The Poets tacked on another win, their sixth of the season, defeating the Caltech Beavers, 2-0, on the road Wednesday. Junior Avery Gonzalez scored both goals late in the second half, in the 78th and 89th minutes.

"When I turned on (the defender) in the box and shot it left upper V, it was the best feeling." Gonzalez said of her first goal of the day. "Especially after having a hard first half."

Gonzalez described her next goal as "a perfect representation of right place, right time."

"(Senior defender) Audrey (Jeltema) played a beautiful pass, splitting their back line, to Layla," Gonzalez said, "and Layla then passed it across the box, and I shot it in."

Gonzalez now leads the team in goals with five and is second on Whittier with two game-winning scores.
