WHITTIER, Calif. (Sept. 21, 2022) - The Whittier women's soccer team remains undefeated after playing to a 0-0 draw against the visiting Cal Lutheran Regals. The Poets now stand at 4-0-2 overall and 1-0-2 in conference play.

Offensive threats Avery Gonzalez and Layla Traylor led the Poets in shots on goal, with three and two, respectively.

Reigning SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Vanessa Martinez saved all six shots on goal she saw in the match for her third shutout of the season. Martinez's impressive goals against average is now 0.83.

"I am very proud of us," Martinez said. "It was a hard-fought game and very high energy from start to finish.This is a very special team, and I like what we have brewing over here." 

Following consecutive ties, the Poets next host UC Santa Cruz Saturday at 11 a.m.
