LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2025) – Senior midfielder
Alanis Cervantes (La Habra, Calif. / La Habra) of the Whittier College women's soccer team netted herself SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week for her two-game performance this week against No. 21 California Lutheran University and the University of Redlands.
Cervantes' performance in both wins helped vault the Poets back into SCIAC Postseason Tournament contention. First, she assisted on the game-winning goal against the Regals, finding a wide-open
Logan Bays (West Sacramento, Calif. / River City) for the winner from about 15 yards out. Then, to celebrate her and her teammates on Senior Night, Cervantes scored the go-ahead goal against Redlands that eventually led to the Poets sealing a 3-0 victory while earning three more points in the process.
Cervantes and the Poets will look to keep things rolling when they travel to Caltech on Wednesday, Oct. 15 for a 4 p.m. game.
