Leach Named to First Team All-Region

The women's basketball senior now finds herself in the running to become an All-American

WHITTIER, Calif. (Mar. 18, 2025) – Senior guard Rhe Nae Leach (Moreno Valley, Calif. / John W. North) of the Whittier College women's basketball team has been recognized as a First Team All-Region player by D3Hoops.com for the 2024-25 season.

Players were nominated for all-region awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and schools and conferences were each contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. There were 789 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to a number of SIDs, as well as D3hoops.com staff and contributors, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.

The news comes on the heels of Leach being announced as a participant in the third-annual Division III Women's All-Star Game, presented by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). She was a Second Team All-Region selection in her junior season.

Leach led the Poets to first place in the SCIAC regular season, marking the first time the Poets have ever finished the women's basketball regular season in sole possession of first place. For this and an incredible line of 21.7 points per game, 9.8 rebounds per game and 4.2 assists per game, Leach was recognized as not only a First Team All-SCIAC selection, but SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year, making her the first player in conference history to win Offensive and Defensive yearly awards since the Athlete of the Year award was recently rebranded.
