sWHITTIER, Calif. (Mar. 25, 2025) – Four member of the Whittier College women's basketball team have been recognized as CSC Academic All-District recipients, per the College Sports Communicators website.
CSC Academic All-District®, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, student-athletes must display excellence on the playing field in addition to meeting the minimum participation requirements as well as GPA requirements. Only student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and higher are considered for the honor.
Senior forward
Lorita Salloom (Santa Clarita, Calif. / Saugus / College of the Canyons) headlines this year's crop of recipients with a team-high 3.91 GPA. Given her academic and athletic exploits, the ultra-talented senior will now be eligible for the Academic All-America ballot with the results set to come out in mid-April. The criminology major closed her senior campaign as one of the top rebounders in the country, averaging 11.7 per game to go with 15.7 points per game as the perfect complement to WBCA All-Star
Rhe Nae Leach (Moreno Valley, Calif. / John W. North).
Whittier's remaining recipients included senior paint players
Faith Boulanger (Burbank, Calif. / John Burroughs / Glendale CC | Cal State San Bernardino) and
Camryn Beaver (Chesapeake Beach, Md. / Northern), along with first-time recipient sophomore guard
Yaneli Rosales (San Diego, Calif. / Mount Miguel). Boulanger carved out a considerable role in the starting lineup as one of the Poets' top defenders, while Beaver, in her lone season of action, gave the Poets quality minutes off the bench while remaining heavily involved around campus. As for Rosales, the sophomore showed herself to be among the most improved athletes on any Whittier team this year, taking the starting point guard role and running with it.
