WHITTIER, Calif. (May 27, 2025) – Two Whittier College baseball players earned All-Region distinction from D3Baseball.com for the 2025 season. Senior
Maximus Berber (Riverside, Calif. / Ramona) made First Team All-Region as a utility player at starting pitcher and first base, while junior right fielder
Joe Plaskett (Fremont, Calif. / Washington) earned Second Team All-Region Distinction.
Berber capped off a remarkable four-year run for Whittier with another accolade to his name, earning First Team All-Region honors as a two-way standout. The senior reached a career milestone in his final outing, recording his 200th career strikeout against Pacific University—coming against the penultimate batter he would ever face. While his offensive numbers took a backseat to previous seasons, Berber still showed flashes of power with four home runs while anchoring the Poets' rotation. He posted career-bests in ERA (3.16), WHIP (1.29), and strikeouts (76) across 77 innings, and closed the year strong with wins in three of his final four starts.
Plaskett, meanwhile, earned Second Team All-Region honors after taking a massive leap forward in his third season. The everyday right fielder thrived in the cleanup spot, delivering a breakout year while leading Whittier in nearly every major offensive category. He also became the only Poet to reach double-digit home runs. His .371/.444/.695 slash line translated to a 1.139 OPS and 105 total bases — cementing his status as one of the most dangerous hitters in the SCIAC.
