WHITTIER, Calif. (Aug. 12, 2025) – The Whittier College Athletic Department has announced that
Cameron Vollmer will be assuming a full-time role in the department, continuing his role as the assistant baseball coach as well as the team's recruiting coordinator. He is also tapped to take on additional responsibilities in gameday operations.
Vollmer has been with the Poets since 2023 where he became a trusted hand for Head Coach
Mike Rizzo, particularly in the recruiting realm. Between 2023 and 2024, the Poets saw their roster size increase from 41 in 2023 to 56 in 2024 and 2025, necessitating the creation of a junior varsity program.
Prior to Whittier, Vollmer played at St. Cloud State University, last playing for the Huskies in the 2022 season as both a pitcher and catcher. He is a native of Corona, Calif., where he currently lives along with his high school sweetheart whom he married. His father, Scott Vollmer, was a 1993 draft pick of the Chicago White Sox after playing his collegiate ball at Pepperdine University.
