REDLANDS, Calif. – The Whittier College women's lacrosse team coming off of a tough 7-6 loss in overtime to Claremont-M-S this past Saturday saw their offense stall Wednesday evening on the road against the University of Redlands falling 16-5.
Whittier tallied the first goal of the evening from Taylor Pool (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) her first goal of the season from Jess Hansen (Seal Beach, Calif.) two minutes in but it was all Bulldogs from that point as they would rattle off the next seven goals en route to leading 8-3 at the break.
The Purple & Gold would cut the deficit to four with back to back goals from Lily Baxter (Phoenix, AZ) and Hansen at the 4:44 and 2:20 marks but Allie Hoffler would add a goal on Redlands next possession to take the early lead at intermission.
Opening up the second half Redlands would add the first four goals, one which included capitalizing on a man up situation before Whittier would stop the bleeding at the 8:55 mark with an unassisted goal from Shaina Denny (Seal Beach, Calif.).
After four more goals from Redlands extended the lead to 16-4, Whittier would add one final tally with three seconds to play from Denny who converted for her fifth goal of the season despite WC being down a man.
Between the posts, junior Nicole Yorba (Poway, Calif.) once again tallied doubled digit saves with 10 against 26 shots.
Hoffler for Redlands finished with a goal and seven assists to pace the Maroon and Grey, while KK McCaslin chipped in with four goals.
Whittier remains on the road with their final SCIAC match-up before opening up their non-conference schedule. They travel into Los Angeles to take on Occidental College this Saturday, February 22 with game time set for 1:00pm.
