WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College women's lacrosse team is conducting "Cancer Awareness Week" this week during their match-ups against North Central, DePauw University, and Southwestern.
"Unfortunately, cancer is such a prevalent disease that affects so many people we thought it would be important to help raise awareness", explained Head Coach Trish Bonagura. "The team did some research and one slogan that they came across and thought had a lot of meaning behind was: "No one fights alone." Making t-shirts and raising awareness is just one simple task that lets those who are battling cancer know, they are not alone."
During their game against North Central the women's lacrosse team had Brain Cancer Awareness by wearing grey t-shirts with slogans on them including Grey Matters!!, No One Fights Alone, and some even including initials of loved ones they know who have suffered with this cancer.
This evening at 6:00pm against DePauw University the Poets recognize Pancreatic Cancer donning purple and tomorrow night against Southwestern they have Breast Cancer Awareness and will be showing their support wearing pink.
