WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College women's lacrosse team saw their home finale spoiled Wednesday evening as they fell 17-3 to the University of Redlands.
The Purple & Gold struck quickly with a nice goal from freshman Angelina Cuevas (Long Beach, Calif.) who was found in front by Taylor Pool (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), but that would be the last tally in the first half for WC as Redlands went on an ensuing 9-0 run that gave them a 9-1 lead at the break.
The Bulldogs continued with their run out of intermission as they moved the score to 13-1 capped off with back to back man-up goals from Emily Dalrymple and Elizabeth Keilty. The Poets stopped the bleeding with 19:48 to play in the game from Meesha Robinson (Redondo Beach, Calif.) who capitalized on a free position and would add another at the 7:00 mark on another free position but it wouldn't be enough to upend UR as they went on for the 17-3 victory.
Rebekah Delledera (Livermore, Calif.) finished the game with four groundballs, five draw controls, and four caused turnovers. Robinson finished with two goals on three shots picked up three groundballs and had three caused turnovers and senior Nicole Yorba (Poway, Calif.) totaled 15 saves between the posts.
Whittier returns to the field for their last game of the regular season this Saturday, April 18 as they travel to Occidental with gametime set for 1:00pm.
