CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Lacrosse team suffered their worst loss on the season Saturday as they fell 20-1 to Claremont-M-S.

Playing without freshman Neely O'Grady (Lorton, VA) who was out due to suspension, the Purple & Gold were put in a tough spot as they again surrendered 20+ points to the Athenas.

On the season, Whittier has been outscored 41-1 in two games against CMS and drop to 3-11, 0-8 SCIAC.

CMS added the first nine goals of the game before Whittier found the back of the goal for their lone connection of the evening coming from Emily Hansen (Seal Beach, Calif.) on a free position shot at the 12:10 mark.

The Athenas continued to pour it on adding another seven right before the half before outscoring WC 4-0 in the second half en route to the lopsided victory.

Madison Topping (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) played the first half for the Poets and totaled six saves against 22 shots.  Emily Olague (San Ramon, Calif.) played the second half and added three saves.

The Poets turned the ball over 27 times, won a mere eight draw controls and was outshot 41-4.

Hansen led the stat line with a goal on three shots with two groundballs, two draw controls and a caused turnover.

Whittier remains on the road as they travel to take on Pomona-Pitzer, this Wednesday, April 19 beginning at 7:00pm.
