WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Lacrosse team once again put together a strong non-conference game as they tamed the Tigers of DePauw University 15-11 Wednesday night at Memorial Stadium.

The Purple & Gold wrap up their non-conference schedule going 3-3 on the season.  Overall they move to 3-8, 0-5 SCIAC

Whittier started off red hot going on top 10-2 in the first 17:00 minutes of the game.  Lexie Meanor started the scoring off with an unassisted connection 1:15 into the contest and the Poets rolled from there with Meanor tacking on another two during the run joined by five other scorers, which included Neely O'Grady (Lorton, VA), Emily Hansen (Seal Beach, Calif.), Gabby Boller (Howell, NJ), Sarah Morgan (Tustin, Calif.), and Nicole Lindke (Pleasanton, Calif.).

DePauw though regrouped and put together their own run outscoring WC 4-1 over the final 11:00 minutes to pull within four at the break.

In the second half, the Tigers continued their run with another three to cut the deficit to one but that's as close as they would get as Noelle Tamas (Granite Bay, Calif.), Meanor, Morgan, and O'Grady would put together four in a row, capped off with a man-up connection that pushed the score to 14-9.

DePauw attempted one final push with under ten minutes to play getting back to back tallies from Sarah Ramsey but that wouldn't be enough as Hansen would end the threat with an unassisted goal with :16 seconds to play that gave Whittier their third win on the season.

Madison Topping (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) picked up the win playing all 60:00 minutes collecting 10 saves against 21 shots.  Whittier controlled the stats outshooting DePauw 30-24, picking up 26 groundballs, going 3-for-5 on free positions, hauling in 16 draw controls, and going 11-for-15 on clear attempts.

Meanor led the offense finishing with four goals along with four groundballs, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers.  Hansen tacked on three goals with four groundballs and five draw controls and Tamas and O'Grady would combine for three goals, five assists, four groundballs and eight draw controls.  Defensively, Melanie Rizzotti (Mukilteo, WA) was rock solid with another three caused turnovers, while Briana Williams (Santa Ana, Calif.) would add another two.

Whittier returns to SCIAC competition next Wednesday, April 4 when they travel to take on Pomona-Pitzer beginning at 7:00pm.
