RADNOR, PA – Two 6-0 teams went head-to-head on Saturday but after everything was said and done No. 6 Cabrini was able to come away with the win handing the Whittier College Men's Lacrosse team their first loss of 2019 14-6.

The Purple & Gold drop to 6-1, while No. 6 Cabrini improves to 7-0.

Five Poets marked the scoring column in today's game with Nate Heritage (Bellingham, WA) leading the charge with two goals.  Cooper Champagne (La Mesa, Calif.), Sergei Jacobs (Edmonds, CA), Guss Simpson (Seattle, WA), and Max Lepley (San Clemente, Calif.) each added goals as well for WC, with Ronan Dooney (Portland, OR) assisting on two of them.

Dakota Turgeon (Bellingham, WA) picked up the loss between the posts playing all 60:00 minutes but collected 17 saves and two groundballs.

The Poets played a tough first quarter rising to the occasion with the Cavaliers adding two goals from Jacobs and Simpson to keep the game a one-goal contest.  But in the 2nd, the Cavaliers pulled away outscoring the Purple & Gold 5-0 to take an 8-2 lead into the half.  Out of the break, Champagne connected getting fed by Dooney to pull WC within five but that's as close as they would get as four unanswered by Cabrini would extend the lead to 12-3.

Heritage ended the run with a man-up goal at the 1:42 mark in the 3rd quarter and despite adding another in the 4th, it wouldn't be enough to spark a comeback as the Poets fell 14-6.

Whittier was outshot 57-21 and was 18-for-24 on clear attempts.  They collected 32 groundballs and were 1-for-4 on man-up opportunities.  In the circle, Kevin O'Donnell (Carlsbad, Calif.) was 11-for-23 on faceoffs with six groundballs.

Whittier remains in Pennsylvania for the weekend as they return to competition on Monday, March 18 when they take on Lebanon Valley beginning at 12:30pm.
