WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Lacrosse team collected their first win of the season Saturday rolling past Cal Lutheran University 19-1 at Memorial Stadium.
The Purple & Gold stop their three-game losing skid and improve to 1-3, 1-3 SCIAC.
Whittier got off to a hot start blanking the Regals 10-0 across the first 30:00 minutes. The second half was low scoring with a combined five goals being added but the game was already put out of reach.
Ten different Poets found the back of the goal with Georgia Bachiochi (Henderson, NV), Neely O'Grady (Lorton, VA), and Chella Davidson (Portland, OR) completing hat tricks. Sam Nimmo (Pleasanton, Calif.), Kiedra Hall (Fruita, CO), and Loren Sepulveda (Middleburg, VA) each added a pair and Morgan Miracle (Tustin, Calif.), Molly Landon (San Marcos, Calif.), Jai Battle (Simi Valley, Calif.), and Payton Climer (Dallas, TX) would each add tallies.
O'Grady also finished the game with three assists, five groundballs and three caused turnovers. Sepulveda put up an assist with four groundballs, nine draw controls and two caused turnovers and Hall would finish with three assists. Sarah Morgan (Tustin, Calif.), despite not scoring added three assists with a couple groundballs and first year Davidson would register two assists and two groundballs.
Whittier held the edge in all categories with 32 shots, 14 draw controls, 8-of-9 on clear attempts, and 26 groundballs.
Jaelin Isquith (Las Vegas, NV) was untested on the morning finishing with four saves against five shots as she picked up her first career win.
Whittier remains at home this Wednesday, March 4 when they host Claremont-M-S beginning at 7:00pm.
