WHITTIER, Calif. (Apr. 16, 2022) – The Whittier College women's lacrosse team showcased some improvements when they hosted first-place Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Saturday's SCIAC game.
The Poets were able to hold the Sagehens to fewer goals than their previous meeting while hanging an additional two tallies on the visiting team. Whittier needed to weather the storm against the nation's 25th-ranked program, but were able to find the back of the net in each of the ensuing three quarters of Saturday's game. Junior Loren Sepulveda (Middleburg, Va. / Foxcroft) led the way in the offensive and defensive metrics, scoring three unassisted goals to go with a team-high six ground balls. Classmate Chella Davidson (Portland, Ore. / St. Mary's Academy) also scooped up six ground balls for the Poets and recorded the Poets' lone assist of the afternoon. Other Whittier goals came courtesy of juniors Georgia Bachiochi (Henderson, Nev. / Coronado), and Payton Climer (Dallas, Texas / Booker T Washington), along with freshman Isa Delgado-Rojas (Montebello, Calif. / Westridge).
Head Coach Sara Allison and the Poets will turn to the road for their next SCIAC game, which will come against Occidental College on Wednesday, Apr. 20 at 7 p.m.
