LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Apr. 20, 2022) – Junior Payton Climer (Dallas, Texas / Booker T Washington) of the Whittier College women's lacrosse team led the Poets on both ends of the field at Occidental College on Wednesday evening.
The Poets hung nine goals on the Tigers, with Climer being responsible for three of them. Climer's first goal, Whittier's third of the game, came on a nice pass from classmate Georgia Bachiochi (Henderson, Nev. / Coronado) at just under the 11-minute mark. Bachiochi's two assists led the Poets on a night where they had their best moments in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Tigers with four unanswered goals to open the final stanza. The final two goals came from junior Chella Davidson (Portland, Ore. / St. Mary's Academy), while Climer and classmate Molly Landon (Escondido, Calif. / Mission Hills) accounted for the first two. Junior Loren Sepulveda (Middleburg, Va. / Foxcroft) joined Davidson and Climer as Poets to score at least twice on Wednesday, and Climer did a tremendous job of retaining possession for the Purple & Gold defensively and off draw controls, finishing the game with eight of her team's 26 ground balls.
Head Coach Sara Allison and the Poets will have the weekend off before returning to Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, Apr. 27 to face the University of Redlands on Senior Night.
