Box Score THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Feb. 22, 2023) - Coming off its dominant season-opening win, the Whittier College women's lacrosse team earned another impressive victory against the Cal Lutheran Regals, 25–1.
It took the Poets just 15 seconds to get on the board, with the opening goal coming from senior midfielder Payton Climer (pictured in the cover photo) via an assist from senior attacker Molly Landon.
By the time the first quarter ended, the road team had expanded its lead to seven goals. Of those, three Poets earned their first goals of the contest: senior midfielder Chella Davidson (assist from senior attacker Kiedra Hall), senior Loren Jade Sepulveda (assist from senior attacker Samantha Nimmo) and Landon.
After pushing the lead to 11–0, the Regals scored their only goal in the contest. From then on, the Poets kept the Regals in check and continued their dominance on both sides of the ball. Nimmo would go on to score her first goal in the contest in the quarter and would score two more before the contest's conclusion.
After taking a 14–0 lead into the second half, the Poets would score seven more goals in the third quarter. In the frame, Hall scored her first of two goals in the contest at 13:32 in the third quarter.
Up 21–1 in the fourth quarter, two more Poets earned a goal against the Regals. With 13:00 minutes to go, senior attacker Georgia Bachiochi (assisted by Nimmo) netted her third goal of the season. On top of that, senior defender Liz Witt (assisted by Landon) earned her second goal of the campaign.
The game's big story is the multiple-goal performances from much of the Poets roster. Sepulveda and Climer each scored five goals in the contest, and Landon and Davidson each finished with four.
The Poets will return home Saturday, Feb. 25, to take on Pomna-Pitzer at 11 a.m.
