LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2024) – Two members of the Whittier College women's swimming & diving team,
Aira Takeuchi (Cerritos, Calif.) and
Miriam Brownell (Marshall, Mich. / Marshall), have been named SCIAC Athletes of the Week for both women's swimming and womens' diving respectively for their performances in dual-meet action at the Univerity of California, Santa Cruz over the weekend.
Takeuchi, a freshman standout on the women's team, competed in four events, taking second place in the 200 Breast (2:31.86) and 400 IM (5:03.87). Brownell, meanwhile, impressed in her first diving performance of the season, posting a 179.55 on the 1-meter board and a 171.90 on the 3-meter board.
Takeuchi, Brownell, and the Poets will turn their attention to this weekend's MPSF Open Water Championship in Long Beach, Calif.
