WHITTIER, Calif. (Apr. 2, 2025) – Four members of the Whittier College women's swimming & diving team have been recognized for College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District for the 2024-25 season. The four swimmers are senior
Piper Guinn (Dripping Springs, Texas / Dripping Springs), junior
Riana Barrett (Las Vegas, Nev. / Faith Lutheran) and sophomores
Tara Hendrickson (Fargo, N.D. / Davies) and
Isabella Cabral (Albuquerque, N.M. / Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School).
CSC Academic All-District®, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, student-athletes must display excellence on the playing field in addition to meeting the minimum participation requirements as well as GPA requirements. Only student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and higher are considered for the honor.
All our athletes had roles to play, both on the women's swimming & diving team this season as well as on campus. Guinn, a four-year letterwinner, had the highest GPA of the bunch and juggled her time between The Quaker Campus (Whittier's student-run newspaper) and as a member of the sprint free group. Barrett and Cabral both contributed heavily in distance free events with Barrett holding the third-fastest mile time in program history while scoring at this year's SCIAC Championship meet. Hendrickson, meanwhile, also scored at the SCIAC Championships, delivering a solid performance in one of her signature events, the 100 Breast. She currently finds herself seven hundredths of a second off the program-record time in that event.
