WHITTIER, Calif. (Nov. 18, 2024) – The Whittier College men's soccer team yielded two Academic All-District players this year in junior
Rowan Slater (Fort Collins, Colo. / Poudre) and sophomore
Kevin Bravo (Paramount, Calif. / Paramount). Slater's selection marks the second time in as many years the midfielder has received Academic All-District recognition.
CSC Academic All-District®, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, student-athletes must display excellence on the playing field in addition to meeting the minimum participation requirements as well as GPA requirements. Only student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and higher are considered for the honor.
Both Slater and Bravo contributed to a major turnaround for the Whittier College men's soccer team. The Poets picked up wins over top teams such as regular season champ University of Redlands and tournament champ Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, the latter team of which is still alive in the NCAA Division III men's soccer championships at the time of this writing. Bravo finished the year with two goals and two assists, while Slater had five goals and four assists as the Poets' leading point-getter in 2024. Both players are business majors.
