LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2024) -- The Whittier College men's soccer team yielded two Second Team All-SCIAC players for the second years in a row.
Junior midfielder
Rowan Slater (Fort Collins, Colo. / Poudre), along with freshman defender
Jack Hindmarsh (Kristianstad, Sweden / Furulund School) have graced the conference's second team as standout players on this year's squad.
Slater finds himself on the Second Team for a second-consecutive season. He led the team in points by a six-point margin, finshing the season with five goals and four assists to complete a career-best season to date. As captain, Slater helped the Poets to a three-win improvement over last season, while the team's winning percentage doubled.
As for Hindmarsh, it didn't take long for the freshman to become a trusted option at outside back for Head Coach
Shea Harwell and his staff. Hindmarsh showed that he could win against elite SCIAC wingers, but also that he could provide offense when called upon. He finished the season with six goals.
The Poets are slated to depart just four players. Both Hindmarsh and Slater could conceivably take the next step as the Poets take a leap forward up the SCIAC standings.
