LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Sept. 8, 2025) – Senior attacking midfielder
Rowan Slater (Fort Collins, Colo. / Poudre) of the Whittier College men's soccer team left his mark among the SCIAC's elite, earning SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week for his huge weekend in Oregon.
Slater is Whittier's first SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week in almost two full years.
Slater's heroics helped the Poets to three wins against Northwest Conference teams Lewis & Clark College, George Fox University and Willammette University. He had four goals and four assists over this weekend stretch, and made waves with three goals in under three total minutes against George Fox. He sandwiched a beautiful goal from the field in between two penalty kick opportunities, and factored into two-thirds of the Poets' total scoring during the weekend.
Slater and the Poets will look to keep the momentum churning when they host Westcliff University on Thursday, Sept. 11 for a 7 p.m. game.
