Sena, Boxall, Tabbed to Lead Whittier Tennis for 2024

Anthony Sena and Jackson Boxall will hold interim coach titles for the remainder of the season

WHITTIER, Calif. (Feb. 29, 2024) – The Whittier College men's and women's tennis programs will be moving forward with new leadership for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Associate men's head coach Anthony Sena has been named interim head coach for the men's tennis team, while assistant Jackson Boxall has been named interim head coach for the women's tennis team.

Sena is in his fifth year assisting the men's tennis team at Whittier, and was promoted to the role of associate head coach earlier in the season. He came to Whittier after captaining his team at Hope International University in Fullerton, and was a leadership award recipient back in 2016.

Boxall, meanwhile, started at Whittier this past season, but has already made an impact, specifically for his work with the women's team. The Poets defeated a tough NCAA opponent in Lewis & Clark College earlier this month. Boxall played for multiple schools during his time as a collegiate athlete, including the University of Puget Sound, and came to Whittier after working as an assistant at College of the Canyons. Prior to this, Boxall took over as the head coach at Valencia High School for two seasons where he quickly turned around the team to win a conference championship and make the CIF Division I Quarterfinals.

Boxall will continue to be assisted by Isabella Lopez. "Issa" played at California State University, Los Angeles and assisted at her alma mater for three years before signing on with the Poets ahead of the 2023-24 season.
