ATP Vet Ernesto Escobedo to Assist Whittier Tennis

The 29 year old is a West Covina native

WHITTIER, Calif. (Feb. 3, 2025) – Former ATP Tour professional Ernesto Escobedo is set to join the Whittier College men's and women's tennis staff for the upcoming 2026 season.

Escobedo, 29, brings a wealth of elite-level experience and competitive knowledge to the Poets' program following a distinguished professional career on the ATP Tour.

A native of Los Angeles and a resident of West Covina, Calif., Escobedo turned professional in 2014 and quickly made his mark, achieving a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 67 in the world in 2017.

During his time on tour, Escobedo participated in all four Grand Slam Tournaments and won opening round matches at the U.S. Open on three separate occasions. He figures to be a difference maker on Head Coach Ronald Kang's coaching staff and hopes to elevate a men's team that won six matches last season for the first time in eight years and a women's team looking to showcase its young nucleus.
