LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 2, 2025) – The Whittier College women's volleyball team has already earned national recognition this year, receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Top 25 poll following an impressive opening weekend at the Pacific Coast Classic in Claremont.
The Poets made an early statement by sweeping both of their opponents, including a 3-0 victory over No. 25 Case Western Reserve University. Whittier followed that performance with another, more routine straight-set win over Lake Forest College, completing a perfect weekend at the CMS-hosted showcase. As a result, Whittier has received 13 votes in the Sept. 2 AVCA poll, and are already knocking on the door of a national ranking.
Head Coach
Chris Duarte-McDermott and the Poets are just a few days away from competing in their very own Whittier College Invitational. A total of 16 matches will take place in the Graham Athletic Center over Friday Sept. 5 and Saturday Sept. 6 with the Poets set to play four times.
