LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Oct. 7, 2024) – Senior
Nick Coltrin of the Whittier College men's swimming & diving team is the first male swimmer to be recognized as SCIAC Swimmer of the Week for the 2024-25 season.
Coltrin earned the achievement for an impressive day at the University of Redlands-hosted Bulldog Pentathlon. Coltrin won the signature event of the day, the 100 IM, and did so by a half-second margin. He touched the wall in 53.32, beating out a field of 56 men consisted almost entirely of SCIAC swimmers. Coltrin also showcased his viability in butterfly events with a 53.03 in the 100 Fly that earned him fourth place. He earned another fourth-place finish in one of his two signature events: the 100 Free, where he touched the wall in 48.65 and showed he is on schedule to again be a contender in that event and others later this year.
Coltrin and the Poets will head to the University of California, Santa Cruz this weekend for a dual meet with the Banana Slugs before competing at the Open Water Championships the following week in Long Beach.
